Quick and easy apple pie roll ups

Faster than baking a pie...

This delicious apple pie roll up recipe uses pie filling for an apple pie roll-up dessert! A quick and easy treat for you and a guest or you and a family member, or you and your neighbor or you and your arch enemy! Or just you...

Ingredients:

1 doz. 6-8" Flour Tortillas

1 15-18 oz. Can Apple Pie Filling

¼ to ½ Cup Powdered Sugar

Oil for frying or non-stick spray for baking

Variations: Use cherry, peach or other flavor of pie filling or Fresh Fruit (see my note below)

Directions:

1. Put 1-2 heaping tablespoons full of the pie filling toward the edge of each tortilla.

2. Roll up each tortilla, folding the ends in to keep the filling inside.
(The ends may be left open, but if the filling hits the hot oil, it will spatter).

Note: These may be fried in oil or baked in the oven.

3. Heat ¼-inch oil in a frying pan or preheat the oven to 375º F.

4. To fry, carefully slide the roll-ups, seam-side down, into the hot oil, and fry 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown.

5. To bake, spray a baking sheet with non-stick spray, place the roll-ups seam side down on the sheet, spraying the tops of each with non-stick spray. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.

6. Remove the roll-ups from the frying pan or oven, and sprinkle the tops with powdered sugar.

Yield: 12 servings. Serve these with vanilla ice cream for “pie ala mode!” or with a dollop of Sour Cream.

Tip from Jule:  You can slice and sauté fresh apples or fruit and fill the Tortilla instead of canned fillings.  If sautéing apples, use butter, cinnamon and a dash of lemon juice and sugar.  Baking these babies cuts out a lot of fat from deep frying.  However, frying them tastes so good.

This is a kind of mock blintz or crepe recipe in my opinion.  Pile on that ice cream and chow down!!!  Also, you don’t have to make a dozen, use your eye to cut back or increase.  Good for freezing and microwaving later. Great as a midnight snack. with the ice cream of course!  Shoot, if you don’t feel like cooking, dip the uncooked Tortilla in the melted icecream..
I’ve done it!!  Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
